giving up

Although I'm not Catholic, I love the idea of Lent and what it means as a believer.  Since college days I've participated in Lent and always tried to give something up that would allow me to focus on Christ even more, allow Him to do a deep work into my heart & soul.  And every.single.time. I end up learning and experiencing Christ unlike anytime before.  I always get so much more out of it than I expected.  So this year is no different.

I prayed for several days about what I should "give up" for 40 days.  And I decided that I wouldn't listen to any secular music until Easter.  Not that I was listening to it a lot before, but I want my heart to be as focused on Christ as possible.  We always have music on in the car...and Claire & I commute an hour to and from school each day.  So that's a lot of time to listen & worship while we drive.

I've already felt the Lord stirring things in my heart.  Already seen doors beginning to open that seemed to be permanently shut.  Already seen Him moving in ways I didn't even know I wanted Him to move.  And I'm full.  Of hope, anticipation, & praise for what He'll do & continue to do on this 40 day journey & beyond.
