grateful heart

I love this link-up.  Always such a great reminder to begin my week with a grateful heart.

Today I'm especially grateful that we have 3.5 days left of school.  And yes, that means summer vacation...whooohooo...but I've also been reflecting on this past school year.  I've had a challenging class.  It's just been a tough mix of kids.  However, each student individually is fantastic and I'm so grateful for each one.

This year I've learned a lot about patience.  I've learned how to love even in the toughest moments. I've learned the importance of a gentle response. I've learned that some parents will always take their child's side, no matter what, and I can be ok with that. I've learned that some parents never take their child's side so I need to be their cheerleader.

Thinking back on so many moments. And I'm grateful for all of them. Because they've helped shaped me into the teacher, co-worker, friend, mom, wife I am today.

I'm grateful for next year. I'm already looking forward to it! But right now I'm really grateful that in 3.5 days, I'll be on summer break!

You sound like one amazing teacher, Amy! I think every child has that *one* teacher (maybe more!?) they remember all their lives... that one teacher who truly made a difference in their life. My aunt is an elementary school teacher (just retired, actually!) and through the years I watched her give blood, sweat, and tears to her kids. So much love, and so little recognition for it. (Not that she's doing it for that, by any means!) I'm so grateful for good, good people who became teachers!! :) (Enjoy your summer!!!!!!!!!)

Great post, Amy! I really admire what you do. I grew up wanting to be a teacher, but after substituting for my youngest son's class a few years ago, I found out just how wrong I was for the job. LOL. So I admire you and all teachers for the hard work you do. :)
