the 4th

Our 4th of July was spent at the beach with family & good friends. We had to get there nice and early to get a parking spot. My sis lives like 2 blocks from our fave beach, which is amazing for so many reasons. But mostly on a long beach day it's nice to have someplace to go and take a break if needed.

I didn't take as many pics as I should have, but here are a few captures....

The kids had a great time digging, burying, jumping in the waves, snacking, flying kites, and just being together. Claire was so sweet with our friend's 22 month old. Gave us a sweet glimpse into her big sister future.

When we were all beached out, we headed back up to my sister, Holly's, place for a BBQ and sangria. The kids plopped down in front of the TV, trying to keep heavy eyelids open. The adults sat on the back patio and ate, drank, chatted, and laughed. Such a fun relaxing night. We ended with s'mores and Head's Up! which I highly recommend if you haven't already played.

We didn't do fireworks, which we haven't done in the last 2 or 3 years, and honestly haven't missed them. Does that make us bad parents?!? Oh well....she doesn't know the difference at this point and then we have less traffic to fight!! What about you? How'd you celebrate our amazing country's birthday?
