friday favorites || essential oils || day 2

As a teacher, I am always noticing kids who struggle with focus.  As a wife, I am always trying to help my husband with his struggle with ADD.  There are a few oils we use to help him, and the best part is, he doesn't need to take any meds!  We diffuse or rub these oils on the bottoms of Steve's feet.  Vetiver can be used on small children, and Clarity and Brain Power are great for older ones...or husbands!

Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides) has a heavy, earthy fragrance similar to patchouli with a touch of lemon. Vetiver oil is psychologically grounding, calming, and stabilizing. One of the oils that is highest in sesquiterpenes, vetiver was studied by Dr. Terry Friedmann for improving children's behavior. Vetiver may help when coping with stress and to recover from emotional trauma and shock.

Clarity™ promotes a clear mind and alertness. It contains stimulating oils including peppermint and rosemary, which have been used for many years to promote mental sharpness. A study performed by Dr. William N. Dember of the University of Cincinnati found that inhaling peppermint oil increased the mental accuracy of students by 28 percent. Clarity can also be used to help restore mental alertness or wakefulness when you are experiencing fatigue or drowsiness.

Brain Power™ gives your brain a boost with essential oils that are high in sesquiterpenes. Use it to clarify thought and develop greater focus.

Oils are something Claire now requests on a regular basis, which I love!  She asks for them when she scrapes her knees, when she gets mosquito bites, at bedtime, when her tummy aches....This pack is not available year round because some of the oils are seasonal.  Get it when you won't regret it!

KidScents® Oil Collection is a comprehensive kit that addresses the most common concerns of childhood. This kit includes six, mild essential oil blends, formulated just for children:
o GeneYus™
o Owie™
o Bite Buster™
o TummyGize™
o SniffleEase™
o SleepyIze™
Conveniently packaged in an easy-to-carry case, each collection comes with 2 roll-on fitments for easy application, especially for Owie™ and TummyGize™. This arsenal of proprietary blends has been formulated in the appropriate strength to meet the needs of children, and they are safe, natural alternatives to comparable products found on many store shelves.
With KidScents Oil Collection, parents and caregivers can safely and effectively navigate children through childhood to become healthy and happy adults.
Purification is one of my absolute favorite oils.  It can be used to fight colds and the flu as well as get rid of weird smells.  Put a drop in stinky shoes, diffuse it to purify the room, use it to kill germs, as well as sooth bug bites.  It's a go to in our house, one that regularly needs re-ordering!
Purification® can be used directly on the skin to cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes. When diffused, it helps to purify and cleanse the air from environmental impurities including cigarette smoke and other disagreeable odors.

This was a great post by Amanda from Notes from a Newlywed about living life to the fullest!

Blog with purpose...This was a really helpful post from Betsy at Heavens to Betsy.

Danielle from Take Heart guest posted on Tweet Potatoe Pie's blog about finding balance.  I love how she keeps it real and shares straight from her heart.

I loved the link up that Sarah did about Goodreads.  I LOVE to read so it was a super fun way for me to meet other book works and find some new and interesting books to add to my "must read" list.

I use Young Living oils. They're so pure, not diluted at all like some of the other cheaper brands. They are more pricey than others, but so far, I've had no regrets. It's been quite amazing actually, we use them for just about everything.

I use Young Living oils, I get them online. I absolutely love them, and love that my daughter requests them! We are definite believers in EOs now, so thankful to find such a natural way to take care of my family.
