everyday oils || lavender

Lavender is one of our go-to oils that we use just about everyday.  It's one of those that I have several bottles of...one in my room, one in Claire's room, in my purse, in the kitchen...we love lavender and it's many uses.  It was definitely the first one we tried when we ordered our premium starter kit, and right away we fell in love with the scent and calming effects.  This is one of the few oils Claire is always requesting for me to put on her, she loves it!

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a fresh, sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma that is soothing and refreshing. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it. Lavender is an adaptogen, and therefore can assist the body when adapting to stress or imbalances. It is a great aid for relaxing and winding down before bedtime, yet has balancing properties that can also boost stamina and energy. Therapeutic-grade lavender is highly regarded for skin and beauty. It may be used to soothe and cleanse common cuts, bruises, and skin irritations.

The list above doesn't even come close to showing all the uses for lavender...a huge bonus to me is that it just smells so pretty!  Lavender is one of the oils that comes in the Premium Starter Kit, which was my first oily purchase.  Since buying that kit, I haven't looked back and keep learning every day how to use oils to keep my family healthy.

My husband was completely skeptical about oils at first, but he's been using them for herniated disks, headaches, and ADD and seen a huge difference...the hard part is getting him to remember to use them! :)

If you're interested in oils or have any questions, email me!!  I love to chat about all things EO's and love to share how they've helped our family since we began using them earlier this year.

I love the smell of lavender! I will usually mix lavender oil w/ oregano oil since the oregano is so strong and Zander usually complains when I rub pure oregano on him... it can burn. :) I love that you're sharing all of these amazing oils.

I love lavender, but it has more uses than I thought! I need to eventually get my hands on some!

I love lavender! Someone came into our library the other day and held an info session. I'm considering buying the starter pack. It sounds great!

We use lavender for almost everything...it's definitely a favorite! The starter pack is the way to go if you'd like to try oils. Let me know!! :)

Oh yes, it's especially great for kids. Can't wait to use on on the babe!

Do you use Young Living? Try mixing 1 drop of oregano with a tablespoon-ish of coconut oil, because yes, it does burn! Or put it on the bottom of his feet (we call it pizza feet). I did the same thing one time with Thieves oil on Claire. I thought she was having an allergic reaction, turns out, it just burns! I felt like the worst mom!

Will do! Thanks so much1

honestly, I don't remember what brand I use. :-/ We definitely do pizza feet, esp when he's got the beggining stages of a cold! Better than vaporub on his feet! :) I haven't tried it w/ coconut oil though- that'll be for next time. Ainsley gets a coconut oil rub on her scalp though because she has outrageously dry skin on her scalp like my hubby does. Poor thing looks like she gets cradle cap at 19 months old

Poor girl! I'm sure there's an oil for her skin! ;) Yes, I'm so over vaporub, but I also use eucalyptus oil when we're getting sick or congested. Smells so good and totally helps! I'm seriously an oil addict! :)

While Lavender isn't exactly one of my favorite scents, we used it over the summer for bug bites and it worked surprisingly well!

I started using essential oils back when I dabbled in making my own soaps - and then I found this awesome magnetic little diffuser that sticks to a radiator (old houses in England = radiator heat!) and the heat warms the oil so the smell diffuses into the room. It was less than a dollar and so awesome, I stuck one in each room - most of the time with lavender! :)

That's good to know! We're getting ready for a couple camping trips so I'll be sure to take some with us for that!!

That is awesome! I put a few drops on a cotton ball and then stick it in the air conditioning vent in my car. Makes it smell so good!! :)

I adore lavender!! I'm still new to the various uses of essential oils so this blog is super helpful-- so tempted to buy the starter kit too!:)

The starter kit is definitely the way to go. It has such a great variety of oils that can be used in so many different ways. And the diffuser...it's the best! We have it running almost all the time! Let me know if you're interested, I can get you more info. :)

Lavender is the only essential oil I have. I use it to make homemade bath salts. My husband and I also have lavender spray that we use on our pillows to help us sleep, but that came from a relaxation set.

Lavender is a great place to start! My daughter requests it for everything! I think it really helps to soothe her. I've never made bath salts, but I would love to someday and I think I would put lavender in them as well.
