making time for momma

Today I'm linking up with Ashley of That Southern Mama for another week of Mama's Tell All.  This week is all about making time for mom.

Although being a mom is one of the most rewarding things I've ever experienced, it's also the most exhausting!  So sometimes momma just needs to take a break.  And for my introverted self, taking time to just be...not a wife, not a momma, just be...is exactly what I need.  I'm so thankful for a husband who totally gets this about me and steps up to take on all mom duties when he knows I'm getting overwhelmed.

I don't have a specific routine that I do when I'm taking a break.  Sometimes it's just closing the door to my bedroom and taking a nap.  Sometimes I like to run errands alone...actually ALL the time, but that doesn't usually happen.  Sometimes I get a pedicure or go somewhere quiet to read a book.  It doesn't really matter what I'm doing, for me the important thing is being alone.  To gather my thoughts.  To make plans.  To blog.  To drink coffee uninterrupted.  To call a friend.  Whatever it is, I just love doing it alone.

After awhile, I'm ready to go back and be wife and mom again.  I feel recharged, less scattered, whole.  I love that feeling.  And that's when I know I'll be most effective in my role as momma.

Couldn't agree more! I always feel a little guilty, but the feeling of being refreshed after "me" time is enough to push me to do it.

I love running errands alone. I think I am wired much the same way and will probably feel like this when I'm a mom!

That's what is most important about alone time, it helps us come back to being a BETTER spouse and mother. I don't know what I'd do if my husband didn't give me a couple minutes to unwind alone each day. Love the photos too :)

I wish I could have that refreshed feeling more often! I think it is fantastic that you take time for you. It is something every mom should remember to do. I am of course not speaking from experience ;)

Yes! It's wonderful that your husband understands that, and gives you the time and space to go off and recharge your batteries. I forget to do this for myself a lot - and then when I do, I remember why it's so important in the first place! Running errands on my own feels like a complete luxury! Even though I'm still just crossing things off my to do list, the ease of it when not toting a little one, struggling with a car seat, dragging a change bag, etc- it's pretty fantastic and such a simple pleasure!

yes, he's pretty amazing. since he spends a lot of time traveling, he realizes he needs to do a little extra when he's home. we make a good team. :)

errands alone don't happen much, but when they do, they are the best. i just feel so much more accomplished because i can get so much more done. i don't have to go down every toy aisle and shop for candy. although when i do have claire with me, it does make me slow down and enjoy the simple things.

yes! so thankful for husbands who get it. and thank you. :)

it's so important to have time for ourselves. i love the mornings when i wake up before everyone else, even if it's only 20 minutes before. just to have some time alone to collect my thoughts and get prepared. its the best.

"I feel recharged, less scattered, whole." This just says it all! It's that wholeness we're all looking for, and you're right, once we have that we can offer so much more as a wife and mother. Thanks so much got linking up and sharing.

I think it's so important in any type of relationship for space and breaks. We all need a breather every once in a while and when we come back from it, we feel rejuvenated and alive again!

Yes! So thankful for those understanding men in our lives! :)

Thank you for stopping by to read! I always know when I'm ready for a re-charge. When I stop and look at myself and realize I'm not doing anyone any favors, then I know momma needs a break! :)

Love this post Amy. I am the same way. I feel recharged after I take a little mommy time out lol I usually will go in my room and watch a dumb reality show and pin stuff on pinterest or go run errands alone.

I'm the same way...it doesn't always have to be time OUT, sometimes it's just like an hour alone in bed! :)
