I Am His.

My heart is heavy.  Not for the things I'm going through, but for my friends and loved ones.  Lately I just am feeling to weight of the world for my dear friends.  Loved ones lost, miscarriage, moving away from support systems, struggles of infertility.  It's all so heavy.  I want to take it all away.  To be the burden carrier.  To have the perfect words to say.

But I can't.
I don't.

I just keep reminding myself to listen.  Not to just hear the words of hurt.  Of struggle.  Of loss. And pain.  But to truly listen.  With my whole heart.

And then speak to the Father in words of prayer.  Because that's all I can do in these hard times.  Take it to the Lord.  And He promises to hear us.  He's always working in our lives.  When we can't feel it. When we can't see it.  When it's not evident, He's working on our prayers.

If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there;
if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.
Psalm 34:18

I've gone through dark times in my life.  Times when I thought I may not see the light again.  During those times I didn't want to hear people's thoughts and opinions.  I didn't care about other people's similar experiences.  Because they weren't my experience.

When life is heavy and hard to take,
go off by yourself. Enter the silence.
Bow in prayer. Don’t ask questions:
    Wait for hope to appear.
Don’t run from trouble. Take it full-face.
The “worst” is never the worst.
Lamentation 3:28

But there was one thing that would always take the darkness away.  One thing that would bring encouragement to my soul.  It would remind me of the Light.  The perfect Peace.  The One who allowed me to go through these times.  The only One who could fully relate to my pain and sorrow.

God, the one and only—I’ll wait as long as he says.
Everything I need comes from him, so why not?
He’s solid rock under my feet,
breathing room for my soul,
An impregnable castle: I’m set for life.
Psalm 62:1-2

Scripture was (is) always something I could read to show me I'm not alone.  To remind me of who I am in Christ.  To tell of His perfect love and care for me.  Only in Him will I find peace.  Joy. He's the only One who can satisfy my soul.

God is striding ahead of you.
He’s right there with you.
He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.
Don’t be intimidated. Don’t worry.
Deuteronomy 31:8

And so sometimes, don't say anything.  Don't try to come up with the words.  Because they're not always what someone needs to hear.  We don't need to always try to have the answers. Sometimes just pray.

And if you feel like the world is swallowing you up whole, read the Word.  It's full of promises.  His promises.  And they're perfect.  They're true.  And they're out of unconditional love for you.

The first time I heard the words to Hillsong United's "Oceans" was 3+ years into our Baby Journey. The words of this song spoke straight to my heart.  I'm sure most of you know or have heard this song.  If you haven't, listen to it...it's like a promise straight from the Lord.  If you have heard it, listen again and be reminded of God's perfect love for you.  He will lead you.  Rest in His embrace.  You are His.

Wonderful words to tell us turning to God is best in all situations...to help us in our struggles, to help us provide comfort to others, and to live in this world that can be grim on many occasions.

Oceans is an absolutely beautiful song! Another song that is relatively new on the radio today that just literally speaks volumes to me is "I Am Not Alone" by Kari Jobe - give it a listen. Praying for you friend, for strength, healing, and for God's mighty hands to move in ways like never before.

Oceans brings me to tears EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's so powerful!!! I can definitely relate to how you're feeling- I think it's the control freak side of me that thinks I should/can fix everything for people

Amen sister! The lyrics are so powerful and remind us that no matter what we may face or what we have been through/are going through, God has already been there, done that. He has faced that for us!

Seriously...this song gets me every time! It takes me to a place in worship that I don't get to very often, but when I do, the Presence of the Lord is very real. Love when that happens!
