grateful heart

I know this is a week late, but this week I am so grateful for my MOM!!  We celebrated my mom on Mother's Day and then celebrated her birthday at a San Diego Padres game!  It was freezing, and they lost (so badly), but we had so much fun just being together!

I'm so grateful for my mom for so many things, but now as a mom myself, I am especially grateful for the values she instilled in me and how much she loves my kids.

It's fun watching your mom become a grandma.  All the things you remember her as doing and being from when you were a kid come out again with your kids, except there's more sugar and less rules.  There have been so many times I've told Claire, "Grammy never gave me that when I was growing up!"  Yep, I'm slightly jealous, but then I'm reminded how truly grateful I am for my mom and the time she's taken to develop such a loving relationship with my kids.  She loves to say YES, not just to me or my kids or my sisters.  But to everyone.  She says yes and then serves with a joyful heart.  I love that about her.

This year was a bittersweet Mother's Day and birthday for my Mom because it was the first one without my Gramma, my Mom's Mom.  It's still hard to believe she's gone...I still have times where it hits me from nowhere and my heart gets really sad.  But I'm grateful for the 34 years she was in my life.  And I'm grateful for the memories we have and shared with each other on Mother's Day.
