summa summa

Oh yes...it's finally that time of year!  The time I started dreaming about last September! Ahhhh.... and I love putting together a bucket list for myself as well as my family each year.  Here's the things we're hoping to cross off our list these next few months.

+ Beach Mondays.  This is probably our favorite thing about the summers.  My sis and bro-in-law live like 1.5 blocks from Moonlight Beach, our favorite San Diego beach.  We always park by their house, drop off our clean clothes and shampoo, grab chairs, umbrellas, and popsicles, and head to the sand. Last summer Claire learned to boogie board and we couldn't keep her out of the water after that.  Hoping she'll try surfing this year.  And planning for Jude to eat all.the.sand.

+ Library visits.  Besides the free air conditioning, I want to keep Claire READING so she feels prepared for 2nd grade.  Plus, I love the smell of the library....all those musty old books...my fave!

+ Play Dates.  On WEEKDAYS!!  Because we can!  And sleepovers because, duh!

+ Backyard BBQ's.  Need I say more?!?

+ Camping.  We have our annual Yosemite trip booked!  BUT...I would love to get a couple practice weekend trips in with Jude before we go for 8 days.  It's going to be an tiring and dirty FUN week with a 9 month old.  Thank the Lord Grammy will be there! :)

+ Swimming.  We're moving at the end of July, but we have a pool at our current house.  So.  We shall have days where all we wear are bathing suits and eat popsicles. And we need to get our little stinker boy used to the water!

+ Bike Rides.  Our very undaring, unadventurous almost 7 year old needs to learn to ride her bike. Seriously.  She can ride, but she needs the practice so we don't have to help her every time she goes up a tiny anthill.

+ Go to Padres games.  This is actually on my Dad's bucket list for the summer, but I love going to games with him, so I think we'll tag along a time or two.

+ Go the the San Diego Fair.  We go every year for Claire's birthday.  This year we've invited the whole family to come along and Claire is insisting on dinner at Wendy's after the fair. Whatever the birthday girl wants, right?!?

And then we just plan to have a whole bunch of free time...time for fun, relaxing, sleeping in, NOT wearing uniforms or doing homework, and playing in the sunshine.  Oh I just love this time of year!

Oh man I love the way libraries smell too! And my kid has thankfully not tried to eat any sand yet...fingers crossed.

So glad I'm not the only one! I asked Steve about the smell, and he said, "You mean that stinky old building smell?" And I was like, "Yep, that's the one!!" Claire never ate sand either, but I'm slowly discovering that boys are a totally different breed! :)

I agree...living in a beach town is the best! Especially in the summer. It's my absolute fave!

Oh my gosh Moonlight Beach is the best! I remember it was one of the first beaches I went to when I moved to San Diego and it was just... so quintessential California. Beach Mondays sound like a great way to start the week!

Moonlight is definitely my favorite in San Diego. I think I love it because it's full of locals. I don't like La Jolla or Coronado because it's full of tourists and people from east county! :)
