Grateful Heart

I can't believe summer is over.  This morning I'll drop Claire off for her first day of 2nd grade.  And then I'll be at home organizing, cleaning, changing diapers.  This is a first for me. I've never been the mom to drop my daughter off at school and then get to go home...or go wherever!  It's honestly very bittersweet.  I'm so excited I'll get to be home more with Jude, but I'll miss getting to see Claire at school everyday.

This school year I'll be working Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  My official title is Support Teacher.  And that's exactly what I'll be doing.  Helping out wherever and however I can.  I'll definitely miss having my own group of 28 students to work with daily, but having the opportunity to spend more time at home with Jude is priceless.

Entering this new season, I have some idea of what to expect. I'll be cooking more because I'll have more time.  Hopefully laundry won't get as backed up.  I'm imagining more time to read.  Would love more time to blog.  I may be totally kidding myself with these ideas, but it's what I'm praying for.

For now, I'm just super grateful for the extra time I'll be at home to be able to love on my family in tangible ways.  I'm so grateful for a boss who understands the time of life I'm in and wants to honor it.  I'm grateful for my mom and mother in law who've committed to watching Jude while I'm at work.

So many changes, but good changes.  Necessary changes.  My heart is full.  And grateful.

My mom took a small break from teaching when my younger brother was born and didn't go back until he was in school. It was very rewarding for her! I'm glad you're getting to spend some extra time with your kiddos during these exciting years!

I think you are going to love the freedom of having some days off! You'll be able to get so much more done and spend more time with your family. It sounds like you've hit a great balance!

I mean, it's 11:00am and I'm already LOVING this! :) Dinner is prepped and ready for the crockpot, Jude is down for a nap, Steve is working. So far, so good! Just hoping the $$ part goes well. Ha!

Thank you! I'm really excited about it. I love that I still get to be part of our school (and I'll be doing work that I can leave behind, no grading!!) but have more time at home. It's like the best of both worlds.

This is huge! And well deserved. So happy for you. Your kiddos will sure appreciate it, and your hubby. Remember to relax:)

Congratulations! Going back part time after A was the best decision I've ever made. It's really the best of both worlds.

It is so wonderful to work for someone who supports their employees to find a work/life balance. Good for you!! I honestly don't know how most people even afford full-time childcare. It is so expensive.
