Grateful Heart || Freedom

In a world where people are fleeing their countries in an effort to save their lives, I'm grateful for freedom.  In a world where religion says it's the right thing to control women, I'm grateful for freedom.  In a country where I get the right to vote for what I believe in, I'm grateful for freedom.  In a world where Bibles have to be smuggled and read in secret, I'm grateful for freedom.  In a world full of such poverty that parents sell their children out of desperation, I'm grateful for freedom.  In a world, even a country, full of slavery, I'm grateful for freedom.

It's something I often take for granted, but daily experience.  Like driving to work, going to church, looking men in the eye, taking my child to school.  Freedom.

Most people in the world don't fully understand the concept.  And I get to live it every day.  And for that, I am so grateful.  Happy Labor Day.  Thank you to the men and women who so selflessly serve and sacrifice every day so I can live in freedom every day.

Every word you wrote speaks truth. A reminder to us all to not take these freedoms we have every day for granted. Truly a grateful heart. From ember grey's grateful heart link up.

Amen and amen! My heart is breaking and rejoicing all at the same time - breaking because people are leaving their homes, but rejoicing because people are coming together to help them start new homes.

YES. Amen, lady!! It's so easy to forget the importance of this and it's something we truly should give thanks for daily. Thanks for the reminder :)

It's crazy how much we take it for granted! I work in a school with a lot of families that have come from the middle east. Every time I hear their stories of escape, I'm reminded how blessed I am to live here.

Thank you Michelle, it's so true. I feel like I've been complaining about a lot of things in our country lately, but we're free. Most people can't say that! We're blessed.

It's so true. I love seeing European countries opening up their arms to these refugees, but it's so devastating to see people fleeing, literally for their lives. I can't imagine, as a mom, being in that place with my family. It truly is devastating!

It really is easy to forget...and then we have today. 9.11. We have so much to be grateful for in this country, but it seems we find a lot to complain about. But. Freedom. Something so basic and yet life changing.

I took freedom for granted befor I met my father-in-law. He suffered so much during the war so we can be free.

So true. I think we rarely remember how free we actually are and how vastly different life is for so many other people in the world.

It's so true. I personally don't know any different because I've always lived in the USA, but lately it's just all over the news. And I'm realizing how incredibly blessed I am to be American. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a terrific week. :)
